Hello everyone! Esta es la publicacion final del blog!! Thank you so much for reading and keeping up with my posts! We have learned how to use Qualtrics which is an online survey creator through my university. It is actually a fun process to do. Surveys and other reporting tools are very useful when trying to gather random information or conducting a study. It would be very useful in the classroom when I am trying to collect information from students about certain topics they would want to do or as an exercise in the beginning of the school year to get to know their likes and dislikes. Surveys can be used to collect any type of information whether it be quantitative or qualitative. I am going to be a college professor so surveys are very important in a big class setting. Excel spreadsheet help to put that data collected in a well-interpreted formatted.  While completing these blogs we had to comment on another classmates' blog. It was very interesting to see the other perspec...

ILP #2 - Twitter Chat

Image
Hello! For my second ILP, I experimented using an educational online Twitter chat. It was a fun experience to be able to be at a conference without having to physically be there. This method is useful for educators wanting to learn more about how to run a more successful classroom. This helped me to learn how to be more sensitive to other cultures in a classroom setting. The Flipped Classroom is a type of learning design that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, usually online, outside of the classroom. This design is beneficial for children to be able to retain information better, if they practice at home and come back to class they will be more knowledgeable on the topic. College is basically a "flipped classroom", we sit in class then go home to teach ourselves the material. We then apply what we have learned to quizzes and exams.  Open Educational Resources are teaching and learning materials that may be used freely reused, without having to pay. An example of this would be LumenLearning.com . They provide affordable course materials designed to strengthen learning using OERs. Learning is about student success as well as affordability and access, they apply learning science insights and learning data analysis to develop iterative improvements to our course materials and learning tools....

Diigo is useful for classroom settings that have daily discussion and do research. I learned how to annotate directly from a website. The annotations and notes made go to a thread that anyone in the group can see which is very useful. This is a very useful website.  The first level, knowledge, is needed to start the PowerPoint. You need knowledge to begin that assignment. C omprehension is needed to do research and apply the information to each slide. A pplication is using the information you collected and putting it into words on each slide. A nalysis is knowing where to put the information on each slide such as titles and pictures. Evaluation is revising your PowerPoint and making sure all the information is correct. Create is presenting the presentation and showing it off to others.  Teachers see technology as integral to education and want to use it. Using technology such as, Chromebooks or tablets in the classroom gives students the digital skills they...

Using Twitter has been fun and informative. I have not used Twitter for educational purposes before now and it's cool to see the different groups dedicated to education. I have been using Twitter for personal entertainment for a couple years now so there was not much for me to learn in terms of maneuvering the site. I will continue to use Twitter and learn more about it as time progresses.  Doing the Web Design assignment as super fun. As I stated in a previous post, I have been making websites for fun for awhile. I did stop for awhile but this class made me remember how fun it was. Creating a teaching persona was fun and a good learning experience for what I have to do later in education. I can add more visuals and information to make the site more interactive.  Check out my site here ! Assistive and adaptive technology is used to help those with disabilities access the internet better. They are resources that are added on to make the ...

This school has a tab for the teachers that have created websites for their students. The webpages have links leading to the page. On one of the teacher pages you can find their classroom schedules as a reminder for their students. They also have modes of contacting them. There are multiple tabs that can help students know what their next assignment is. It gives a schedule for tests or assessments that may come up that the teacher knows is coming up in advance.  These teachers had websites for grades 9-12.  Link to school website: http://www.ptsd.k12.pa.us/TeacherPages1.aspx I plan to use technology in my classroom as much as possible. I believe technology is very important in education. It can elevate the mind and have children thinking more about something. Writing and doing work on paper is very beneficial in the growth of a student, they should know how it feels to write a 2000 word paper by hand and feel the ache of writing for so long. It build character and "pr...
